Featherlust Farm Bird Store opened its doors at 180 Main Street in Old Saybrook, Connecticut in July of 1997.  The store was a logical extension of a successful breeding program which had been producing healthy baby Greater Vasas, Vosmaeri Eclectus, Hispanolian Amazons, Congo Greys, Blue Headed Pionus, Blue Back Muellers and others for several years.  

Since our beginning in 1997, we have increased the size of our store and moved a few doors down to 188 Main Street.  We are continually expanding our inventory in order to provide the very best products for companion birds available anywhere. Most importantly, our aviary consistently produces healthy, well socialized baby birds, hand-fed until weaned, and loved and played with in our store until placed in a loving home.

Featherlust Farm sells not only babies from our own breeding pairs but also from other local reputable breeders. As a result, our selection of available babies at any time is wide and varied. Visit the “Babies” page on our website for an up-to-date listing of the babies we have in our store.

Our baby birds are weaned to a nutritious pelleted diet and, depending upon the species, are given plenty of fruits, nuts and vegetables. Our birds are comfortable with people, other birds and lots of activity. There is always a lot going on in the store and the birds are a big part of that.

Featherlust Farm encourages anyone interested in any bird to become as familiar as possible with the needs of that particular species, to read the recommended literature pertaining to that bird, and to ask questions. Our goal is a successful union between human and bird. We encourage potential bird owners to visit as frequently as possible during the weaning process in order to build that special bond that is so necessary for both owner and bird.

We sell the highest quality cages and playstands from A&E and Kings Cages. We stock a variety of models at Featherlust Farm. But, any model can be ordered through our online store.

Toys are never in short supply at Featherlust. Our toy wall spans the entire length of the store and is stocked with an ever-changing variety of toys for birds of all shapes and sizes. We are constantly adding new toys to our online store.  So check back often.

Featherlust Farm is a full service bird specialty store providing boarding, grooming (wings and nails), and DNA testing. We provide expert advise and are happy to help in any way we can. We periodically sponsor bird-related seminars and other events.
